Church Picnic!
Be sure to mark Sunday, August 24 on your calendars for the annual church picnic! We’ll be holding the picnic again at the Rose Barn in North Park. You can buy your tickets the first three Sundays in August (3, 10 and 17). You won’t want to miss this time of good food, fun and fellowship! 

Summer Choir
July 20 through August 24.  Rehearsals will take place on Sunday mornings in the Huston Room at 10:15 for the 11:00 service. You are welcome to join us on a week-to-week basis.  If you love to sing praises to our Lord, this is an opportunity to make a short-term commitment, one week at a time. 

NORTH HILLS REVIVAL PRAYER GATHERING
Join us in the Sanctuary the first Wednesday morning of each month from 7:30-8:30 a.m.  This time of prayer, led by Pastor Kevin Gourley, is open to all in the North Hills area – a time to come together to pray for a revival in our community.  The next prayer time is set for Wednesday, September 3.

Women to Women
Kick-Off is Wednesday, September 3 at 9:15 a.m.   If you have not decided on your study, come for food, fellowship and ice-breakers. Bring at least one friend to taste and see that the Lord is good! The Men’s Ministries Kickoff
will be a tailgating/barbecue immediately following the 11:00 a.m. service on Sunday, September 7. We’ll enjoy ribs, chicken, burgers, hotdogs and pulled pork before watching the Steelers game on the big screen at the Clayton Center. Please plan to join us and invite a few guy friends. FRIDAY MORNING MEN’S FELLOWSHIP
The Friday Morning Men’s Fellowship begins a new year on September 5 with a delicious hot breakfast at 8:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. There will be wonderful homemade food prepared by our Reception Committee, a tremendous message by Rev. Dr. Richard Morledge, and live entertainment by the Tuesday Gospel Singers, a double men’s quartet singing “Victory in Jesus,” “Ninety and Nine,” “The Touch of His Hand,” and closing with the benediction, “May the Lord Bless You and Keep You.” We need to know if you are coming in order to prepare the food so please call Don Baret. The cost is $6 per person and ladies are invited. If you  have any other questions about this vital, vibrant ministry, please contact Ralph Young.

CHRISTMAS MUSICAL: COME TO THE WELL
Auditions will be held on Saturday morning, September 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon and Sunday afternoon, September 7 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for our Christmas musical production, Come to the Well. Performance dates for the 12-member cast are December 5, 6 and 8, 2008. This full scale musical, written by our own Jim Lueers, will include a full choir, a 15-member professional instrument ensemble, dancers and a chorus of townspeople, including youth. Power Company
classes kick off the new school year on Sunday, September 7! All kids will “move up” to their new class on this day. Early Childhood classes for 1 year olds through 5 year olds will be held in the Preschool Wing at both the 9:15 and 11:00 worship services. Elementary classes for kindergarten through 5th grade will be held in the Elementary Wing located below Fellowship Hall at the 9:15 a.m. service and a combined “Power Hour” class for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade will be held during the 11:00 a.m. service. Look for signs in the hallways and outside individual classrooms.

Marriage Ministry
Our first marriage ministry event is entitled Your Time Starved Marriage. This special class will meet Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m. beginning September 7 at the Clayton Center. The purpose of the class isn’t to make you feel guilty about not spending enough time together, but to focus on connecting you with your spouse during the time you do spend together. We all lead busy lives. Take an hour on Sunday mornings to learn how to prevent your relationship from falling between the cracks of your schedule. Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)
Join us for the ride of your life this year as together we explore “Adventures in Mothering!” Discover God’s calling for you as a woman, leader and mother while surrounded by a support network of other moms in the same season of life. Mothers with children ages birth through kindergarten are invited to join MOPS. Two groups meet at Memorial Park Church beginning in September on a semi-monthly basis—Monday mornings from 9:15–11:15 a.m. and Monday nights from 6:30–8:30 p.m. Childcare is provided for the morning group but space is limited so register now. THE TRUTH PROJECT
Memorial Park Church is excited to offer this DVD-based small group curriculum comprising one-hour lessons taught by Dr. Del Tackett. The goal is for participants to begin looking at life from a biblical perspective. Each lesson discusses the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview in daily life. Join us for Sessions 1 – 6 on Sundays, October 5 –November 16, 10:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m. in the Clayton Community Youth Center or on Wednesday evenings, October 8 – November 19, 7:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. We will finish Sessions 7 – 12 in the spring during the same time slots, beginning Sundays March 1 – April 5 and Wednesdays March 4 – April 8.  The Truth Project is free for participants. Check this out!

The Truth Project curriculum includes:
Understanding and living the Christian worldview in everyday life
Knowing the nature and character of God;
Recognizing God’s design for all aspects of life: work, science, family, government, art, ethics and more;
Learning how to thrive in a hostile culture;
Aligning our actions to our core beliefs;
