Discovery Days are days designed to give your child additional time in the classroom setting where they can LUNCH and LEARN. Not only will your child have time to develop social skills, but each day they will be discovering a variety of new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) learning opportunities. Each week a different topic will be discovered through craft, story time, and an exploration period. This program is designed to allow children to experience independence, socialization, and learning opportunities in a safe and nurturing environment.

Discovery Days run each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday that school is in session from 11:30 AM-2:30 PM for children in our 3, 4, and 5-year-old classes (must be fully potty trained). Children bring a packed lunch and either are dropped off for discovery time or are taken to discovery time after their morning classes. We have a maximum of 16 students per session with one teacher and one aide per session. Parents can register their child for one, two, or three days per week, and children are welcome even if they do not normally have class on those days.

Our groups are limited to 16 children per session with one teacher and one aide. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents can reach out to Debi Bordo to see if space is available.

The cost of the program is $30/child/session, due each Monday for the week your child will be attending.

For more information, please email Debi Bordo at dbordo@memorialparkchurch.org

We are committed to increasing awareness of our students for others who may be in need. Our efforts begin in the classrooms and extend far around the globe. Here are just some of our partners.

All Year: Soles for Jesus
Memorial Park Christian Preschool partners with the overseas relief group, Soles for Jesus, to collect new and gently used shoes that will make a life-changing difference in the life of children and adults in about 30 African countries. These shoes are a blessing to the people and a tool that opens doors for sharing the Gospel. Boxes are located outside of the preschool wing hall door, near the Huston Room doors in the main church building, and in the entryway of the Clayton Center for shoe collection.

Ways you can help:
  • Sort through your shoes at home and bring in gently used pairs (please rubber band or tie each pair together);
  • Browse the clearance racks in various stores;
  • Write a check out to SolesforJesus.org to help defray shipping costs (drop off in the office or offering plate).
  • Consider your sphere of influence (family/neighborhood/school/work place) and how you can publicize this shoe drive as an extension of what we’re doing here.
Fall Collection
Partnering with Memorial Park Church's outreach staff, preschool students are invited to participate in collecting items for welcome bags benefiting newly arrived refugee children during the fall semester.

Winter Collection
Children have the opportunity to shop in our Christmas Store for family members and friends. Proceeds are used to buy gift cards (Giant Eagle, Target, etc.) for preschool families in need.

We also collect items for the local Food Bank during this month. We solicit toilet paper, cereal, peanut butter, and canned goods for North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO) (an MPC mission partner).

Spring
Each Spring, Memorial Park Church hosts a huge day of service called Love Local! We come alongside this effort and collect donations for bagged lunches for Light of Life Rescue Mission (an outreach partner at MPC that serves the homeless population of Pittsburgh). We partner with Children's Ministries to fulfill this need and pack lunches with them.

Academic Calendar

Each year, we prepare an academic calendar with important holidays, days off, screenings, and other important days to remember. You can find our current year's academic calendar below.

Our Preschool Facilities

Our classes are held in five brightly colored classrooms that have large windows allowing natural light to brighten the space. Our spacious classrooms allow room for both teacher-directed activities and exploratory learning. Each classroom has a Jack & Jill restroom attached.

Outside of our classrooms, we also have a spacious resource room and staff office. Other storage areas are configured for easy access to classroom materials. An additional staff room is used for parent conferences and other meetings.

The preschool wing is attached to the main church building with security features in place to allow only staff, teachers, aides, and registered guests during preschool hours.

Notice of Nondiscriminatory Policy as to Students

It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
